A pleasant, gently rolling 18 hole course with well defined, fully irrigated fairways the Omanu Golf Club, inland from the Mt Maunganui coastline, boasts a membership in excess of 1,100, with more than 850 playing men and women. Like many New Zealand courses, Omanu was developed out of farm land, much of it originally quite bare and sparsely grassed in stark contrast to today's lush green fairways.
